Loxahatchee's Fall Calendar Belongs to a Farm and a Dog Rescue

October 8, 2026

Out west, the season starts on Saturday, October 10, in an open-air barn at 14311 North Road. That is the day Swank Farmers Market opens its seventh season, and it runs every Saturday after that through May. The rest of the Loxahatchee fall calendar follows the same pattern. A farm and a dog rescue on Okeechobee Boulevard set the big dates, and each one posts them on its own website. This year, the farm also posted something else people need before they get in the car: the old shortcut is gone.

The Town Calendar Lists Meetings

In October, the Town of Loxahatchee Groves' public calendar shows council and board meetings. It has no community fall festival. So the season's anchor dates come from private venues, and their own websites are the most reliable place to check them.

Swank Specialty Produce is the clearest example. Its market season runs from Saturday, October 10 through May 29, 2027, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to the Palm Beach Post's fall market roundup published October 1. The Post lists the address as 14377 N. Road. Swank's own site gives 14311 North Road, Loxahatchee Groves, 33470, so use the farm's address for directions.

What Opens in the Barn on October 10

Swank holds its market in an 8,500-square-foot open-air barn. More than 25 guest vendors join the farm's own produce stand there. The farm puts its pitch plainly:

"Avoid the urban crowds and parking hassles and take a trip to the countryside."

The vendor list is posted, and it covers a full week of groceries. For breakfast there's Old Okeechobee Coffee Company, Anna Bakes and Rebecca's Pastry. For the fridge there's Sutton Milk, Red Beard Ranch and Bare Foot Livin Farms. Pantry vendors include Polo Spice, La-Vida Vanilla, Joy to Jar and Olive Branch Market. Prepared food comes from Blue Ribbon Gumbo, Paulie's Pasta, Italian Forks, King of Hummus and Perogie's. The list also includes Alonso Apiaries, Gratitude Garden Farms, That Green Juice and Miami Club Spirits.

The farm limits its vendors on purpose. Its vendor call says no art, jewelry or crafts, which keeps the barn focused on food and growing. Parking is free, and the farm's pigs, sheep and farm cats are there to greet you. The farm asks visitors to leave dogs at home unless they are service dogs.

The Route In Changed

The biggest practical change this season is on the road, not in the barn. Swank's market page says a gate now blocks access via 140th through The Acreage. Only bikes and pedestrians can get through, and the farm posts alternative driving routes. The Post calls 140th Avenue "now permanently closed" and points readers to the farm's new directions.

If you're coming from the north side of The Acreage, the likely detours run along Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, which has its own work zones this month. Palm Beach County's road report, issued October 2 for the week of October 5 to 11, lists:

  • Widening work at Northlake Boulevard and Seminole Pratt Whitney Road
  • Lane and traffic shifts for culvert work on Seminole Pratt Whitney Road around 71st Place N.
  • Similar shifts around 75th Lane N.
  • Culvert work from 83rd Place to north of 86th Road

The same report says the traffic signals at Northlake and Seminole Pratt Whitney were turned on June 10, 2026. It gives no completion date for the remaining work there. Pull up Swank's posted map before opening day. Last spring's route may now end at a gate.

October 17 Is the First Stacked Saturday

One week after Swank opens, two more western-community events fall on the same Saturday.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue holds its Fall Fest on October 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 14444 Okeechobee Blvd. in Loxahatchee. The ranch lists local vendors, market finds, hayrides, food, a Ranch Rummage Sale and adoptable dogs. The Royal Palm Beach Green Market & Bazaar opens its season the same morning at Village Hall, 1050 Royal Palm Beach Blvd. It runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through April 24, 2027. Its organizers say more than 43,500 vehicles come and go each session during season.

The hours leave room for more than one stop. Swank and the Royal Palm market both close at 1 p.m., and Big Dog Ranch's Fall Fest runs until 3 p.m. If you're heading toward Royal Palm Beach, Guaca Go opened at Village Shoppes, 10101 Southern Blvd., Unit 190, with a ribbon-cutting on September 16. It is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

After Dark, the Farm Hosts Dinners

Swank's role doesn't end at 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The farm also runs a dinner series on a separate calendar, and the dinners have a different address than the market. The Farmhouse Wine Dinners are held at 14283 North Road.

Chef Brandon Salomon cooks the first one on Saturday, November 7, at 6:30 p.m. The calendar's table-seating listing for that night already shows "RSVPs are closed," so check availability early. The next night, Sunday, November 8, Swank Table hosts "Fall into Winter" with the Four Seasons Chefs from 4 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $200 per person, and the dinner benefits Kids Cancer Foundation. Chef Nino La Spina cooks the second Farmhouse Wine Dinner on Friday, December 4, starting at 6:30 p.m.

What Still Needs a Phone Call

Some familiar fall stops haven't posted 2026 details clearly yet. Ark Farms at 6196 Ellis Lane describes pumpkin picking and hayrides, but its own site still labels the page "Pumpkin Patch 2025." A Visit Florida Farms listing mentions an October 4 to 31 window, but the same listing is dated 2025, so confirm with the farm before planning around it.

Lion Country Safari posted an update on September 28 saying some areas are closed or under construction, including Safari Falls. It gave no reopening date. The park's Lanterns & Lights event ran from November 1, 2025 through January 18, 2026. Those were last season's dates, so check the park's own announcements before planning a holiday visit. For now, Swank's opening on October 10 is the first confirmed date of the season.

Out on the acreage, a property's value depends partly on things a listing photo won't show, like which road gets you to North Road now that 140th is gated.
